Probably the biggest journal site update to date!
BETA TESTING FOR ACTUAL JOURNALS IS NOW CLOSED. I WILL HOWEVER BE ASKING FOR VOLUNTEERS TO HELP WITH OTHER AREAS OF THE SITE. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED AND DID NOT RECEIVE A BETA TEST LOGIN/PASSWORD PLEASE SEE THE MORE RECENT POSTS. THANK YOU.

I know you have all been waiting for this and finally we have come to... BETA TESTING!

What does this mean?
I have people who have already volunteered to help out and I will be calling on them to test the features that are currently installed on the service.

It also means that you finally get to find out what the service is called AND you get to see the logo!

I would like to help beta test!
That's great! The most important thing you can do is to read the information below the cut and if you agree to it, leave a comment saying "I agree to these terms" and I will get you an account to test with. Also note, as this service is being intended for 18+ users only, you must be 18+ to help beta test and by agreeing to the terms you are certifying that you are 18+. The service will NOT be 18+ only.

Please note: Those people who have already signed up will be getting first crack at the test accounts. I will be running the beta-test for at least 2 weeks so if I have more volunteers than test accounts I will be rotating out so others can give it a try!

What about a ToS?
The Terms of Service for this site are pretty straightforward. As the servers are hosted with a US company I am required to follow US law with what is and is not allowed on the server. That means that anything that has been identified as illegal will not be allowed. For example, the following things will not be allowed:
-child pornography
-warez (cracked software programs)
-the encouragement of illegal activities (Note: DISCUSSION of such activities is fine. For example, you are free to discuss rape and murder and the consequences and the punishments and that sort of stuff but you are NOT allowed to make posts saying that you wish someone would kill your mom or that you are planning on killing someone or anything like that)

Content that IS allowed:
-all fandom content is allowed and welcome however I stress and advise any who use the service to make sure they give their content a "rating" so that those who do not wish to see it can pass it by. (Most people in fandom already do this)
-fandom content includes but is not limited to: fanart, icons, wallpaper, fanfic and all that fun stuff
-fandom content that portrays what could normally be considered illegal (underage sex, non-consensual sex, "alternative" sex) but portrays only fictional characters is acceptable

I will work very hard to guarantee that the only time any material will be removed from the site is if I am asked by a law enforcement agency and I will comply with such requests.

Other things of note:
-You MUST be 18+ to use this service. I know a lot of people have friended me recently and I appreciate that but I haven't had the opportunity to check to see that you are all 18+. I have made mention of this in my other posts so that should hopefully not come as a surprise to anyone.

I am aware that I may be denying a lot of members of fandom and I may lower the age minimum however at this time you MUST be 18+ to use the service. This is no longer the case.

-There will be no advertisements on the site. Ever. I know that we were all promised that in the early days, but I guarantee it. I absolutely LOATHE ads on websites and I will not be putting ads on mine. Paid accounts will be available in the future and if (and when) the site becomes popular enough, I have already signed up with a clothing reseller for possibly selling logo-ized t-shirts and that sort of fun thing. Please note: none of the funds that come in to this project are going to me. All funds will be going directly back into the pot to pay for the server and maintenance. As of right now I'm paying out of pocket and I do so happily because I miss the way LJ used to be.

Anyway, on with some other stuff! Below the cut are the images with the site name as well as the requirements/terms for being a beta tester. Please continue on and if you are interested, leave a comment stating "I agree to these terms" and I will hook you up with a test account.

The name of the service is: Scribblit and can be found at http://www.scribblit.com. I was trying to find something fun like "scribble" or "scribble pad" or something like that and dontlickit and I both sort of thought of "scribble it" which I liked but I took out the e and smooshed them together and came up with Scribblit!

Yes, it's bright green but not to worry, there will be other colour options. ;) We will also have custom "people" - the little dude beside your username - for journals and communities because dontlickit is just that awesome. ;)

Beta Testing Terms
You must agree to these terms in order to beta test.

• You will NOT create any new accounts at this time


• You will NOT create any new communities at this time


• You will agree to friend all of the test journals with your test journal as well as join the test community


• You will not post any illegal content, examples of such are listed above


• You will report any problems or errors you encounter to me through scribblit @ gmail.com with the subject of "Scribblit: Bug Report"


• You will post in the test journal (even if it's just "testing blah blah blah") at least 3 times a week

Some things of note:
-As of the time of this writing, the pretty layout has not been put up yet so you may have a few problems finding a few things. Please leave a comment on the system journal with any questions or missing links
-FAQs, Support Area, Paid Members Area, Contributors, Developer Area, ToS, Privacy Policy, COPPA, Legal Disclaimer, Site Map and Mood Themes have not been uploaded/updated as of this time so please do not send bug reports for those areas - I will be working on those throughout the beta test and they will be up and ready to go when the site goes live
-some of the text on the site still reflects LJ terminology and this of course will be changed. Please watch the system journal there for updates so that if you do find a mistake you can submit it. :)
